A Focused Mind & A Guided Heart

Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:5

Recently, God has shaken up churches in Malaysia. I'm sure you have read through newspapers and heard about the incidents that happen to churches around Malaysia. How do you and I as Christians react to it??

For the believers, the war is ALREADY WON in Christ.

However, there are battles that we have to face and the GREATEST battle is your MIND.
This has got to be the toughest one because it requires discipline and a determined focus on our part.
If we don't guard our mind and thoughts that we allow ourselves to think on, we will adapt to the pattern of the rest of the world and miss out on God's involvement.

Now the beautiful truth we see in this verse is that as we made the choice to guard our hearts in Christ, He is granted access to be the LEADER in our lives and we will WALK in His strength.

God is the one who directs our hearts and fills us with His love to pour out to the lost and the consistency to remain in Him, but we must DETERMINE that we are to focus on Him.

Do you wanna "Go Through the Motions" without God?

The Motions - Matthew West

This might hurt, It's not safe
But I know that I've gotta make a change

I don't care, If I break

At least I'll be feeling something

Cause just ok, Is not enough

Help me fight through the nothingness of life

I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day

Without Your all consuming passion inside of me

I don't wanna spend my whole life asking
What if I had given everything?
I
nstead of going through the motions

No regrets , Not this time
I'm gonna let my heart defeat my mind

Let Your love, Make me whole
I think
I'm finally feeling something

Take me all the way
Take me all the way

Take me all the way

Prayer

Our Father in heaven ,
hallowed be your name ,
your kingdom done ,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven .
Give us today our daily bread .
Forgive us our debts ,
as we also have forgiven our
debtors .
and lead us not into temptation ,
but deliver us from the evil one .
~matthew 6 : 9-13~

Is any one of you in trouble ? he should pray .
Is anyone happy ? Let him sing songs of praise .
Is any one of you sick ? He should call the elders of the church
to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord .
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well ;
the Lord will raise him up .
If he has sinned , he'll be forgiven .
Therefore confess your sins to each other and
pray for each other so that you may be healed .
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective .
~James 5:13-16~

A LifeRay

“…the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,”
Hebrews 6:1b

This is the foundation of salvation. Does ‘repentance from dead works’ mean you have to quit all your bad habits before you exercise faith toward God? If so, this is a real problem, for often you need God to enable you to quit them. A few years ago a couple of boys walked out on the lakebed of a lake that had been reduced to winter level. The mud was crusted over but broke through and the boys became stuck. When they realized their efforts to free themselves were futile, they cried out for help and others came and saved them.

At the moment they realized they were helpless and cried out for help, they had simultaneously turned from their own effort and had placed their faith in others for their deliverance. The same is true of repentance when it comes to salvation. Repentance of sin and faith toward God occurs simultaneously at the moment you realize you are helpless to deliver yourself from your sin, and cry out to God for deliverance.

A Word For Today

"If the Son therefore shall make you free , ye shall be free indeed."
John 8:36

There is a great misunderstanding in our day concerning forgiveness. Some will say, “I know God has forgiven me, but I just cannot forgive myself.” This misconception about the reason for your guilt keeps you in bondage to that guilt. The Word of God never says we are responsible to forgive ourselves; only others. It is not our job to forgive ourselves; that is God’s job. If you are experiencing guilt because of your sin, it is not because you have not forgiven yourself; it is because you have never really accepted the forgiveness of God. Forgiving yourself is neither possible, nor required. You are only responsible to receive God’s forgiveness; and when you do, you will find that it is the forgiveness of Jesus that sets you free!
